Q: What is chiropractic?

A: Chiropractic is the science of the detection, reduction, and correction of spinal misalignments (known as subluxations). Chiropractic is both conservative and natural in its philosophy and art of practice. For over 110 years Chiropractors have sought to find the root cause of dis-ease and correct the problem through specific spinal adjustments. Chiropractic adjustments safely remove the nerve interference, allowing the nervous system to function at peak efficiency thus resulting in improved health.

Q: What actually does the healing when my body has a problem?

A: Your body does the healing. If you break your leg or cut your arm, you have a cast put on your leg and put a band-aid on your arm. What is doing the healing in these situations? Is it the cast or the band-aid? No, it is the inherent healing capacity that God has placed inside Your Body.

Q: What part of your body controls all healing?

A: Your Nervous System controls all healing.

Q: Do drugs ever correct the problem?

A: No. If you have high blood pressure and you take a high blood pressure medication, does the medication actually heal the high blood pressure? No, it merely treats the symptoms. So, if your body is the only thing that can heal, when you have a problem, does it make more sense to take a pill to treat the symptoms or to remove interference to your nervous system so that your body can heal? Based on this simple philosophy, I have been extremely successful in helping patients get off their dangerous medications and live healthier lives.

Q: I am a healthy adult, what are some of the things that a Chiropractor can help me with?

A: Stress reduction, posture correction, and improved health and fitness. The human body replaces 90% of its cellular components 4-times per year. The ability for the body to create healthier and healthier cells is at the mercy of the nervous system's control of the body. Chiropractors remove nerve interference thus allowing for optimal organ function and healing.

Q: Can Chiropractic care help pregnant women?

A: Yes. The additional weight and stress on the framework of the body in pregnant women can cause pain in the low back and legs, and between the shoulder blades. Chiropractic is very effective in the relief of these difficulties. Chiropractic has also been shown to decrease the length of active labor time by almost half.

Q: Is Chiropractic both safe and appropriate for children?

A: Yes. Chiropractic uses a preventive approach to optimal health. Children's adjustments are much more gentle than adult's. This makes it ideal for infants, children, and teenagers. Chiropractic is licensed in all 50 states of the U.S. for the care of children of all ages.

Q: When should a child in my family first see a Chiropractor?

A: Ideally, soon after they are born. Pound for pound, the miracle birth can often be the most traumatic event in both a child's lifetime. Forceps have been measured pulling up to 120 pounds on an infant's neck and vacuum extraction has been measured at pulling up to 140 pounds. Even delivery by hand has been measured at up to 90 pounds of pull on an infant's neck. All three methods of delivers can result in birth trauma to the child's neck, spinal cord and nervous system.

Q: What are some of the things that a Chiropractor can help my child with?

A: In addition to staying healthy and keeping a properly aligned spine there are a number of health challenges that parents seek out Chiropractic care for their children. These conditions include allergies, asthma, ADD, ADHD, persistent infant crying, bed wetting, ear infections, neck pain, back pain, scoliosis, infections, growing pains, colic, and sports physicals. The most common conditions treated in children are from slips and falls, as a growing child will have thousands of falls in the first few years of life.

Q: What are the different types of Chiropractic available in the Austin, TX area?

A:  There are two basic types of Chiropractic clinics with distinctively different goals in mind: spinal correction and pain relief. We are a spinal correction clinic. Our goal of care is to correct the alignment of the spine allowing for optimal biomechanics and structure, thus creating a stronger healthier body. We begin this process after getting patients out of pain. Other pain relief based clinics do not continue with corrective care after the pain is gone.

A: Chiropractors are excellent for helping you to heal sports injuries and most muscular skeletal injuries. Did you also know that nearly every top level athlete is under regular Chiropractic care whether they are competing in season or not. Chiropractic adjustments have been shown to increase reaction time, increase strength, increase flexibility and improve focus. Just image what you could achieve if you were regularly adjusted.

Q: I am a diabetic. Can chiropractic help me?

A: Yes. As you probably know already, the pancreas is the organ that manufactures insulin for your body to use. The brain tells the pancreas to produce a certain amount of insulin via the spinal cord and nerves. When there is interference to this pathway (via vertebral subluxation), the pancreas malfunctions and your body does not produce insulin in proper amounts. When this interference is removed, the pancreas can begin to function correctly and the need for insulin injections is decreased. I witnessed the benefit of chiropractic care regarding this for my own father (a diabetic), as the more he was adjusted the less insulin he needed for his condition.

Q: Can chiropractic care help with depression and anxiety?

A: Yes. When the normal curve in the neck is altered, it puts extreme pressure on the back of the brain and brain stem, along with the spinal cord itself. The back of the brain is where emotions are "housed", so when there is pressure on this part of the brain, there is increased possibility of emotional challenges for the patient. When this pressure is removed by restoring the normal curvature in the neck, patients find they don't "need" their anti-depressants to function.

Q: Are medications really that bad for me?

A: Unfortunately, yes. Based on the American Medical Association's own statistics, prescription medication is now the #1 cause of death every year in America. The average American is currently taking between 4-6 medications each and every day. Isn't it sad that our healthcare system is the leading cause of death in our country?

Q: After having my child vaccinated, he was diagnosed with autism. Can Chiropractic help?

A: Yes. Chiropractic care will enable your son's body to function at its optimum level. Due to the extreme toxicity that the vaccine has had on his body, chiropractic care is essential for his body to heal as much as possible.

Q: My children get a lot of ear infections and are sick a lot. Can chiropractic help?

A: Yes. This is an "eye-opener" for many new patients. When you walk into my office, you will be surprised at the amount of children that I adjust. In fact, my practice is almost all families. Due to birth trauma when the baby's head is twisted and yanked, many children have damage to their nervous system in their upper neck. When proper spinal alignment is restored in the neck, it quite simply gets the bone off of the nerves that control the function of the ears and the body's immune system. As with all other body parts, when the interference is removed, the nervous system can function normally.  The ear infections stop and parents are amazed at how their child rarely gets sick anymore.

Q: I am an expectant mother and I have read more and more about the dangers of vaccinations. Should I have my children vaccinated?

A: It depends. This is a very personal decision that every couple needs to make when bringing a child into this world. The best advice I can give is to research everything, and do not blindly follow your doctors advice on whether to vaccinate your child or not. The more research you do, the more educated you will be when the time comes to make that decision. Unfortunately, for most new parents, fear is used to scare them into getting their child vaccinated.
