Simply results based care:
The following X-rays images are actual cases from our clinic. They clearly demonstrate the effectiveness of our Precision Spinal Correction (PSC) technique at correcting the alignment of the curves in the side of the neck. Results vary from patient to patient.
We are born with spines that are straight up and down from the front and three distinct curves from the side. Stresses such as poor posture, acute and cumulative trauma, and physical neglect can cause our spines to stray from their natural spinal alignments.
A spine out of alignment will create Vertebral Subluxation Degeneration of varying degrees. Where as many people have normal spines early in their lives, spinal misalignments can happen at any age. Many Vertebral Subluxations remain undetected in adults of all ages.
The only way to determine if Vertebral Subluxation patterns are present in a spine is to perform a thorough exam and X-rays. Only Doctors of Chiropractic are formally trained and licensed to detect and correct Vertebral Subluxations through specific spinal adjustments.
Chiropractic adjustments are gentle, safe and effective at removing Vertebral Subluxations. Often relief is experienced immediately following an adjustment. Spinal correction may take months to years depending on how long your spine has been out of alignment or the phase of Vertebral subluxation.
Once maximal spinal correction has been achieved, your Chiropractor may recommend maintenance Chiropractic care to help hold the alignment of your spine in an optimal position. This would include a reduced frequency of spinal adjustments and exercises.
It is never too late or too early to either have your spine checked by a Chiropractor for the presence of Vertebral Subluxation or have your spine adjusted. Since postural patterns can run in the family, it is recommend that each member of the family have their spines checked by a Chiropractor.
Pound for pound the most traumatic experience that can happen to us in our lives is the process of being born. It is at this time that many people suffer from neck and spinal trauma. Vertebral Subluxations can prevent an infant from developing properly neurologically. This can leave a child prone to childhood sicknesses and hindered neurological development.
Children take an average of over 5000 falls in the first five years of their lives. Each of these falls has the potential to create spinal misalignments in the child's spine and create nerve interference.
Slips, falls, sports injuries, backpack repetitive trauma can lead to chronic back pain and poor posture in children. A child will have the best chance of optimal growth and development if their spines are checked for the presence of Vertebral Subluxation and adjusted by a Chiropractor if necessary.
Children are born with a curve in their neck which is very similar to that of an adult. Maintaining this cervical curve is essential in the proper functioning of the nervous system and prevention of osteoarthritis in the spine later on in life.
Current research shows that loss of the normal curve in the upper back area of a child or thoracic spine can cause adolescent scoliosis. There are specific Chiropractic adjustments and exercises which can help to prevent and correct this abnormal posture.
The X-ray films to the immediate right are those of a 6 year old boy whose back shifts significantly to the left. These films show improvement after the boy received Chiropractic care in our office. The best time to have a child's spine checked for Vertebral Subluxation is immediately following birth and routinely throughout their lives.
When looking at an x-ray, three phases of degeneration can be found.
In Phase I degeneration, the spine has lost its normal alignment. At this stage of degeneration, there is significant nervous system impingement, but no major bone and disc degeneration. As most Phase I spines have been out of alignment for many years, the average time to correct this spine is 12 months.
If left uncorrected in Phase I, the spine continues to degenerate into Phase II. In Phase II, there is noticeable bone and disc degeneration. Unfortunately, when a patient has a phase II spine, the nervous system (brain, brain stem, spinal cord, and nerves) has had more pressure and damage. A patient with a Phase II spine is a lot more likely to be taking one or more dangerous medications for such conditions as high blood pressure, cholesterol, and depression. As this patients spine is worse than a phase I, the average time to correct a Phase II spine is about 16-18 months.
If still left uncorrected in Phase II, the spine literally begins to "rot". In Phase III degeneration, the bones and discs continue to degenerate further. Fusion of one or more levels of the spine is not uncommon in Phase III. Due to the significant brain, spinal cord, and nerve pressure and resultant loss of health and life, a Phase III spine is not nearly as common. This spine can take 24 months or longer to correct to its maximum healthy state still possible.
I have been to a pain relief Chiropractor off and on for years. Why do I still have my problem? Pain based Chiropractors are also known as medical chiropractors. These chiropractors don't actually correct the problem. They adjust the spine enough so that the pain goes away temporarily, but because they do not actually correct the spine, the problem remains.
When the spine is out of normal alignment, it puts significant pressure on different parts of the nervous system, including the brain and brain stem, the spinal cord, and the nerves coming out from each side of the spine. This condition is known as vertebral subluxation, where the body is in a state of "dis-ease". Unfortunately, pain or body symptoms are a poor indicator of this serious health condition. Scientists discovered in 1999 that only 6% of the entire nervous system can actually feel pain. This means that someone can have up to 94% impingement of their nervous system and not feel any pain. The most accurate way to be checked for vertebral subluxation is by x-rays, where the chiropractor can determine the exact alignment of the spine.
If the spine is kept in proper alignment, the nervous system is free of interference and the body functions the way God intends it to function. If the spine is out of normal alignment, it puts pressure on the nervous system, and the body parts can not receive the proper nerve supply or "power" in order to function correctly. When body parts do not function correctly, they break down, wear out, and become "dis-eased".
The Medical Model is based on chemically altering the body in hopes of finding a non-diseased state, while the Chiropractic Model is based on removing the interference naturally through spinal correction. This increases the nerve flow or "power" to the parts and they can then function correctly. Because of this "common sense" approach, chiropractic succeeds in correcting the problem. Medicine fails because it treats symptoms and never addresses the underlying problem which is causing the symptoms.
